Silver production in Peru fell 2.8% in September to 281,828 kilograms

 Peru’s production of gold and copper rose in September, while output of silver and zinc declined, the government said.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy said Tuesday that output of gold totaled 13,734 kilograms (30,278 pounds), up 4.8% compared to the same month a year earlier.

Silver production in Peru, the world’s second largest producer of that precious metal, fell 2.8% in September to 281,828 kilograms, compared to the year before period.

Copper production increased 5.6% to 103,726 metric tons in September, as output increased at a number of mines.

Zinc production was 94,040 tons in September, down 21.8% from the year earlier period.

Among other metals, the government said molybdenum output rose 87.1% in September to 2,167 tons.

Lead output declined 2.84% to 20,570 tons.

Iron output fell 29.8% to 491,580 tons, while tin output rose 15.9% to 2,707 tons.  - MarketWatch
